South Africa Today on 16 July 2026
Hello everyone, welcome to SA Today on 16 July 2026. Today in South Africa, we begin the video with a building on fire at Harrismith in South Africa, today. Fire along the N3 near Van Reenen. Buildings in Port Elizabeth / Gqeberha. Afsaal Picnic site in Kruger National Park. Flower season has started, and there are lots of flowers around Van Rhynsdorp in the Western Cape. Dawn over Paarl. Dinner at the Rivergate Guest Farm in Stanford. Mossel Bay at the Diaz Strand. Another day in the Kruger National Park at the Deck of the Mugg and Bean restaurant in Lower Sabie Rest Camp. We will show you more from across South Africa Today. A day of fire incidents, winter blooms, coastal travel and wildlife moments across South Africa. The footage moves from emergency scenes in the interior to quiet dawn landscapes, harbour activity and national‑park highlights.
Key scenes and locations
– Harrismith building fire — a structure fire in the Free State, with emergency response teams on scene.
– N3 Van Reenen fire — roadside fire activity along one of South Africa’s busiest freight corridors.
– Port Elizabeth / Gqeberha — historic buildings and urban heritage captured across the city.
– Afsaal Picnic Site, Kruger National Park — travellers stopping for rest, wildlife sightings and bushveld atmosphere.
– Vanrhynsdorp flower season — early blooms across the West Coast region, signalling the start of the annual floral display.
– Paarl dawn — sunrise over the Winelands with clear winter skies.
– Rivergate Guest Farm, Stanford — dinner scenes and farm‑stay ambience in the Overberg.
– Mossel Bay Diaz Strand — coastal views and beach activity along the Garden Route.
– Lower Sabie, Kruger National Park — wildlife and riverfront views from the Mugg & Bean deck.
– Additional clips — Noorsekloof Walking Trail in Jeffreys Bay and other travel moments from across the country.
A weak cold front will skim the South Coast today, bringing cooler, cloudy skies and occasional light drizzle to coastal communities, particularly from the Overberg through to the Garden Route. The south-west coast—including Cape Town—will wake to another foggy morning, which may affect visibility for commuters and early travelers. In the central interior, light frost is once again possible, making for a chilly start, but temperatures will gradually rise as the day progresses. Meanwhile, most other regions of South Africa can expect sunny, dry, and warmer conditions, providing a pleasant contrast to the cool and damp weather in the south. The South African Weather Service has not issued any impact-based warnings, suggesting stable and favorable weather for the majority of the country.
