Since then,Hayat remained in our mind as our national hero and an inspiration for millions of our sisters because of the courage she took to do something that nobody else ever tried before and gain such a unique recognition for her country. How many of us shaded some tears out of emotion when watching that beautiful young lady walking on the stage being one of the most beautiful girls that the world had at that time?
Twelve years later, God has chosen Ethiopia for another pride and recognition.
A young man named Teddy Afro is the man of the time to represent Ethiopia and fight for the recognition our country deserves but never claimed. Teddy Afro never hesitated to take the challenges, face the up and down, turns and twists on the road to KORA 2016 even for the highest available category than his predecessors such as Tsedenya G/M and Shewandagn Hailu did in the past as well as Abey Lakew is trying to do right now.
TEDDY AFRO is heading to KORA to say, “We are the legendries in multiple fronts since time immemorial. We knew about music before anybody else in the world. If any country has to be legendary in music, it should be no any other country but Ethiopia, the origin of St. YARED liturgical song. If any musician has to be legendary, it should be me, TEDDY AFRO, the man from holy land of Ethiopia!
The young man is determined to make history on behalf of himself and his generation. WE THE PEOPLE shall jump on the wagon and be part of the history just by SMSing KORA 156 on the number + 248 984 000 and encouraging friends, families and people around us including our non Ethiopian brothers and sisters.
- A vote for Teddy is a vote for Ethiopia.
- A vote for Teddy is a vote for the love of country.
- A vote for Teddy is a vote for confidence in the competitiveness of our music.
- A vote for Teddy is a vote for a reminder of who we were and who we are.
ENOUGH with complacency and shyness! Let’s not allow ourselves to act like we are nobodies!
JAMAICANS FOR ETHIOPIA
When Jamaicans say, ” I love Ethiopia” , they mean it. They love the land and the people of Ethiopia. Their love for Ethiopia is unconditional. No geographic boundary can limit the love that Jamaicans have for Ethiopia.
As the rising pop and Reggae star artist TEDDY AFRO is currently competing at KORA 2016 African music award, Ethiopians from all over the wold were texting KORA 156 to the number +248 984 000 in support of his candidacy for the category of legendary artist.
It was still amazing to me where they found the information from, a couple of Jamaicans who happen to know that I am From Ethiopia requested me what they shall do to help TEDDY AFRO in his fight at KORA AWARD.
I just explained to them that although I have no doubt about TEDDY AFRO’s competitiveness, however, I have a growing frustration that it will be an upward battle for Teddy to compete against countries like Nigeria and Egypt, the two most populous countries in Africa with a better tele network infrastructure and more proficient people in telephone use.
Jamaicans are Christians, and remember Christians never give up. Guess what they said: ” don’t worry about it. We will fight to death! ” Then they took the number to send the SMS text to the KORA award and they promised me to spread the information to all over the world where fellow Jamaicans are living. We are still exchanging text messages, and no words can explain how determined they are to work hard and contribute their part towards Teddy’s and Ethiopia’s victory.
Please allow me to express my deepest gratitude to the following Jamaica brothers for their dedication and unfailing effort on spreading the information and requesting everyone to get behind Ethiopia in her fight to reclaim the pride and recognition that she deserve in the music world.
