In the final episode of Noisey Jamaica II, Walshy Fire heads into the hills above Kingston with a group of Nyabinghi Rastas to truly get down to the roots of this musical movement. On top of that, Walshy gets exclusive time with the one and only Ras Malekot, who will give us perspective on where Reggae came from and how it’s evolved to what we see today.
RTV NOTE: Haile Malekot is a wonderful bredren of ours. Our families grew up together in the quiet village of Walkerswood, St. Ann, Jamaica, known as the Garden Parish. He’s also a baptised and faithful member of the Ethiopian Orthodox Tewahido Faith. Our fondest memories are flying kite during Spring Time and going for swims in the river and to Fisherman beach, the once popular hangout of the fishing community and the nature lovers!
