Discrimination against Rastafarian children continues
The Rastafari Council has had to step in 11 times this year to force Eastern Cape schools to accept Rastafarian children. The latest case involves a six-year-old boy, who has been turned away by all the Afrikaans schools in King William’s Town. School authorities say they will accept him only if he shaves off his dreadlocks. The council has accused the schools of discriminating against the child’s religious beliefs.
