Purpose
The Day will continue to raise Awareness and support “Reparation and Repatriation”
of Afrikans in the diaspora acknowledging the struggles we are still facing; and to
celebrate and honour Afrikan Ancestors, sustaining the culture and acknowledging
their achievements whilst providing opportunities to support current ones who
continue to strive towards progress in economic, educational, spiritual and physical
matters. Please ensure that you arrive and et up early as the park will be open by
7.30am in time to start trading at 2noon sharp!
Fundraising
An update on the progress of our works was given. We are asking that all traders and stall
holders to have a small collection point on their stalls to take donations through the day.
Local Impact
Educational programmes currently offered free by individual members of the RMUK are
supporting UK projects such as Rastafari Regal Livity and the Rastafari In Motion
Exhibition currently at the Black Cultural Archives, its runs free from June to Sept and has
been attended by local people including schools from Lambeth as well as attracting wider
interest. RMUK are part of the team that has co curated and delivering workshops and
also Jah Blue is the Patron of Rastafari Regal Livity. We will continue to deliver workshops
for local people of Lambeth in Health and Wellbeing, Parenting, Ageing population and
Youth Enterprising.

Themes for 6th August 2016 for al to promote
We are highlighting the Rastafari Cultural Calender, with the 100th Year (Centenary)
Anniversary of the elevation of Prince Regent in 1916 when he was first given the
name “RasTafari”, the name by which the movement is known today.
We will acknowledge the 50th Year (Jubilee) of when His Imperial Majesty left from
Ethiopia to visit the Caribbean Islands for the first time to say thank you to Caribbeans who
assisted Ethiopia when it was invaded by Italy and to offer medals to individuals.
We celebrate Emancipation and the Independence of Jamaica and other Caribbean Islands
from colonialism.
Artists and Performers
Artists, speakers and performer who have not confirmed by 28th July may not be included
in the programme.
Bright Colours!
We are encouraging ones to Bring plenty of bright colours to decorate your Pitch to reflect
our upful and vibrant nature at Afrikan people. There may be a prize for the most
colourful stall or pitch! Any extra decorations will be most welcome as we will also be
decorating the event site.
We hope to see you at the next gathering, please continue to spread the word about the
event and invite friends, and family. Remember ALL are invited to the evening event at
the PopBox, Brixton Station Road, from 7pm to Midnight.
