Kingston, Jamaica: March 4, 2017 – It’s another year to celebrate our
women and Womanbition 2017 is scheduled to take place on Wednesday, March 8 at Red Bones Blues Cafe, 1 Argyle Road, Kingston 5 starting at 8pm.
Every year since 2009, Simiya House and Rassis International in association with Stanley and Empress host an all female showcase in commemorating International Women’s Day.
This year’s theme “Be Bold For Change” could not have come at a better time in the lives of every Jamaican man, woman and child. It’s as if the universe has heard the cries and have charged us all to make a change with all that is happening in our blessed island and our world.
With this theme, Womanbition 2017 hopes to mobilize, inspire and make a difference in raising the consciousness of why we ought to love each other rather than taking lives.
Performances will come from Alaine, Shuga, Italee, Sharon Tucker, Keteis Oyonde, Xylophone, Rayven Amani, Monifa Goss, , Charmaine Limonius, Tuff Like Iron, Zosiah McGregor, the all female Band Adahzeh as well as special guest male performer Hezron.
Hosted by Denise “Isis” Miller and Emprezz Golding, with DJ Iset Sankofa at the control, Red Bones Blues Cafe will be transformed into an oasis of healing the family through music, messages and “Womanpowerment”.
Womanbition will also be awarding Ka’bu Ma’at Kheru (Andrea Williams Green) of Irie FM; for her consistent contribution to Culture, Women’s Issues and Nation Building.
As is customary, donations in cash or kind are being requested as there is
no cover charge.
Proceeds are in aid of “Mustard Seed Communities Mary’s Child” (home for teenage mothers) and the UNIA Nursing Programme.
All are invited to support and play their part as we stand in solidarity to “be bold for change”
