TIMELINE: May 2, 1936 — A Throne in Exile, A Nation Unbroken

On this day, Emperor Haile Selassie I and the Royal Family were forced into exile, departing Ethiopia for Palestine as invading forces overtook the land. It was not a retreat of defeat—but a strategic withdrawal to preserve the sovereignty, dignity, and future of a nation under siege.

In that moment of separation, the heart of Ethiopia was carried into exile, yet never surrendered. The Emperor would go on to stand before the world, exposing injustice and calling for unity against oppression.

This was more than exile—it was the beginning of a global awakening. A test of endurance. A living example that even when displaced, truth and rightful authority cannot be erased.
