Parsahah 10 MiQetz פָּרָשָׁה מִקֵּץ Menorah Mystery/The Coming of Age (Spiritual Growth and Walk) D’bar Torah
Contemplating this Sabbath’s Parashah Study MiQetz, translated we are given the translation of “In the End”. However, within the Hebrew context, the word MiQetz would more properly translate as “from the Fullfillment of a stage, phase or space in time”. We gain more insight into the word MiQets (מִקֵּץ) by studying the prefix “Mem” [in this case pronounced “Mi” with the vowel pointing] (מִ: which from the ancient glyph of “water” indicating to “derive from/to be birthed out of”) along with the understanding the meaning of Qetz (קֵץ : is defined as at the end [of Time/Space] from the root qetzatz [קָצַץ]: to cut off). It is also interesting to note that in Genesis 41:4,7 the word used for “Awoke” (referring to Pharaoh) is yaqatz (יָקַץ: awaken, become active[NOTICE The Yad (indicating the Hand of HaElohim “TriUNE God”) along with the vowel pointing equivalent to (Aleph indicating “Head” or “Beginning”)] This may be better understood by referring to Ecclesiastes 3:1 “To every thing there is a season, and a time to every purpose under the heaven:” Henceforth, in our spiritual growth, we should consider the previous verse from the Divine perspective and not limit it to our natural perception of time. (although, by studying Torah, we learn the significance and purposes for observing YHWH’s Mo’edim [מועדים] or “Appointed Times”]. NOTE: This Parashah reading coincides with Hanukah or the Rededication of The Temple “Our Body” 1 Corinthians 6:19 “What? know ye not that your body is the temple of the Holy Spiritwhich is in you, which ye have of HaElohim, and ye are not your own?” That being said, Khag Urim Sameakh “Happy Festival of Light”!!!

AUTHOR NOTE: The concept of Sabbath Queen may have come from the Babylonian Talmud, where during the Babylonian exile many of Israel, emulating the customs of the existing culture fell into the customary false worship of “The Queen of Heaven”. However, the concept of “The Sabbath Queen” might make sense in the context of Genesis 1:1,2. If creation not The Creator is seen as feminine in energy being (Bereshit plural female designation), as Ruakh is certainly designated “akh” Masculine in energy. But just as the soul “Feminine” is filled by The Spirit so are the days thus, Sabbath in the created plane has a feminine aspect and could be seen as receptive to the King of the Sabbath.
One of the general themes, of this portion, can be likened to (Miketz/מִקֵּץ) “A COMING OF AGE”, a Bar/Bat Mitzbah (בֵּן/בַּת מִצְוָה:”Son/Daughter of YHWH’s Commandments”) or even a promotion. When considered with the previous parashah “Vayesheb” (וַיֵּשֶׁב or He was Enthroned: Referring to Jacob or Israel, the 3rd Hebrew Covenant Patriarch) this template becomes very clear.
In reality or The Rhema (ῥῆμα: immediate evident/applicable) Word, we are able to see many similarities in the story of Joseph with that of our own (Born again from Above) New Life in Yeshua HaMashiakh, to The Glory of Qedamawi Haile Sellassie. This evidence may be existentially observed in that as we mature and spiritually approach the age of seventeen (see Genesis 37:2/47:28), which represent a time of testing: (see 1 King 14:21, 2 Kings 13:21, 2 Chronicles 12:13) we may be inspired to pursue a service or “a ministry” for the Kingdom of YAH, according to our specific talents and calling. The Vision/Dream of our ministry can be metaphorically interpreted to be likened to Joseph’s Dreams. Considering this template set forth , in Torah, it would be good for us to observe the example set forth, in the character of Joseph.
Also, it should be noted that Joseph is the clearest Shadow type of Yeshua HaMashiakh, we find in Torah. Thus, it would be good to keep in mind 1 John 4:17 which reads “Herein is our LOVE MADE PERFECT, that we may have boldness in the day of judgment: because AS HE IS, SO ARE WE IN THIS WORLD.” Throughtout the entirety of Parashat Vayesheb and MiQetz, it is clearly illustrated that Joseph did not his “HEART” (leb [לֵב] inner man, mind, will, understanding) away from sincere Love for his Brethren, if he had done so it would have been to turn his love away from HaElohim! Philippians 2:5 teaches us “Let this mind be in you, which was also in Yeshua HaMshiakh” This Principle of Agape Love (see 1 Corinthians 13) is demonstrated as John 13:34 records the Words of Yeshua HaMashiakh speaking as thus “A new commandment I give to you, That ye love one another; as I have loved you, that ye also love one another.” Furthermore, it is demonstrated by Joseph’s words, in Genesis 39:9, that when we conduct ourselves contrary to any precepts given to us it is, actually, not people that we offend but HaElohim!
To briefly expound, on the Hebrew “Metaphysics/Spirituality” of the Heart (לֵב), it corresponds to the heart “chakra” or sefra (ስፍራ) in Amharic. This is the spiritual “space” where Yeshua HaMashiakh is “enthroned”. The 7 branch Menorah is a symbolic conveyance of this principle as “4th” or The Center branch, which feeds the other branches “Oil” (Symbolic of The Holy Spirit) corresponds to the Sefra of the Heart. We may gain more insight into this by studying Genesis 1:1 in correspondence with the 7 branches of the Menorah. In this study, we should bear in mind what Yeshua unveils to us in Revelation 22:13 “I am Alpha and Omega (MORE CORRECTLY Aleph/Taw), the beginning and the end, the first and the last.” Genesis 1:1 in Hebrew contains 7 words בְּרֵאשִׁית בָּרָא אֱלֹהִים אֵת הַשָּׁמַיִם וְאֵת הָאָֽרֶץ׃. The letters in bold are the Aleph Taw, and to this day many Hebrew Scholars are baffled by this word to the point where they are either unable or unwilling to disclose it’s signifigance. The fullness of the Aleph/Taw is beyond the scope of this article. However, suffice it to say it is Yeshua and The One Gate of Entrance into the Kingdom of Heaven, as John 14:6 admonishes us “Yeshua saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but through me.”
John 8:12 ” Then spake Yeshua again unto them, saying, I am the light of the world: he that followeth me shall not walk in darkness, but shall have the light of life.”
Moving forward with this dissemination, in relating to Joseph, it must be taken into account that he was estranged from his family and in intent murdered by his brothers. This is an experience that many of us may encounter as we begin to proclaim and pursue The Vision or Dream that Qedamawi Haile Sellassie in Yeshua reveals to us, by way of Grace. Spiritually, we may often feel estranged from our family members. Even our siblings, for whatever reason, may hold a great deal of animosity towards our remaining faithful to His Call. In a metaphoric sense, our natural family may even count us for dead, or not living up to their expectation of us. However, “Our Master Yesus” Adoni Yeshua (אדוני ישוע) has already spoken to these types of situations in Matthew 10:37 “He that loveth father or mother more than me is not worthy of me: and he that loveth son or daughter more than me is not worthy of me.” Of course, this is not to say we stop Loving our natural family and posterity but it is a matter of Order and Priority. (see Psalm 127:3) On the contrary, despite whatever difficulty we may face, we find the Grace and assurance necessary to move forward in Matthew 19:29 which reads “And every one that hath forsaken houses, or brethren, or sisters, or father, or mother, or wife, or children, or lands, for my name’s sake, shall receive an hundredfold, and shall inherit everlasting life”.
Also, considering all of the Patriarch’s mentioned thus far, Joseph had to endure the most suffering without really having done anything to deserve it. He was sold by his brothers, wrongfully accused, thrown into prison, provided assistance to one in need and even forgotten by the one he helped. The entire time he did not lose faith in HaElohim or of the Vision given to him. Rather, he developed his gift even while incarcerated! Torah does not record that he fell into the least bit of despair. Joseph’s example of perseverance and his attitude is an excellent example for those of us whom are aspiring to pursue any type of ministry and an overall great model, in general, for conducting our lives. Joseph’s attitude brings 2 verses immediately to mind; Matthew 5:12 “Rejoice, and be exceeding glad: for great is your reward in heaven: for so persecuted they the prophets which were before you.” and Matthew 24:12-13 “And because iniquity shall abound, the love of many shall wax cold. But he that shall endure unto the end, the same shall be saved.”
This brings us to His Majesty’s utterance, which in Spirit, speak likewise and is the living example set for us, as Sons and Daughters, demonstrated in Word and Deed. Our Father speaks as follows “There are many instances in my life where the belief in The Almighty and the Christian Faith have sustained me, times of troubles and difficulties. No matter what may befall a human being he can always succeed in overcoming it in time if he has the strength of faith and praise to God, for inevitably He comes to the assistance of those that believe in HIM and those that through their work live an exemplary life. This goes not only for Christians in my view, but for all men. I think God communicates with those that find themselves in misfortune. In particular, when my country Ethiopia was invaded by aliens several years ago I was sustained in that period by my faith in God and in the abiding belief that justice, however it may take time, will ultimately prevail. If I did not have faith in The Almighty and in His Righteousness and that justice inevitable prevails, then I would have lost hope and thus the interests of my country would have been ignored. Because I attempted to maintain my faith in HIM and because all Ethiopians maintained their faith in the ultimate goodness of the world and in the grand design that The Almighty has for all men in the world, we were able to victoriously re-enter our country and rid ourselves of evil forces. If I did not have in my heart the love of God I don’t think I would have acted in a manner that I did. The love of God brings a sense of religiousness in a human being, it gives him comfort for the future and assurance that right cause will ultimately prevail.” For The Full Dr. Oswald Hoffman Christmas Interview with His Majesty Qedamawi Haile Sellassie please visit our Sister Site RastafariTVNetwork link:https://rastafari.tv/1968-haile-selassie-christmas-interview-dr-oswald-Hoffman/
In proceeding, we read, in Parashah Miketz, that after enduring this period of testing, that Joseph is exalted in status and given reign over Egypt/Mitzrayim (מִצְרַיִם)/Gib’ts (ግብፅ). In a sense, Joseph received a crown, perhaps a tesher (the crown of Lower Egypt). But our crown is explained by Apostle Paul in 2 Timothy 2:8 “Henceforth there is laid up for me a crown of righteousness, which Adonai, the righteous judge, shall give me at that day: and not to me only, but to all them also that love his appearing.”
In Genesis 41:45 Joseph is given “The Name” Shem (שֵם) Tzaphonath Paneakh (צָֽפְנַת פַּעְנֵחַ; From an Egytpian root…Pi 3.14 Ankh?Compare: Revelations 3:14/Ecclesiastes 1:9) to be interpreted as “Treasurer of The Mystery of the Glorious Rest”(which may be a key to comprehending the Egyptian Prototype of the Continual Sabbath Rest, “Elysian Field” or Aarru: field of divine harvest that awaited the righteous who had beenwanderers in the wilderness and who fought their way to it through all the obstacles of the under-world. [Gerald Massey, Ancient Egypt Light of the World, Book 10]). We, now, know that this type of “Elysian Field”/Aarru is fulfilled in the present Continual Sabbath Rest” for those who can “receive” Qabalah, in Yeshua, as Matthew 11:28 records Yeshua’s HaMashiakh’s Word “Come unto me, all ye that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest.”
Furthermore, it is interesting that Joseph is given Asenath the daughter of the Powtyi Phera Priest of On (אוֹן strength, vigour). A detailed historical analysis of the Ancient forms of Amen-Re worship is beyond the scope of this article. Nonetheless, it should be noted that On/Heliopolis was one of the main centers of many denominations of Amen-Re worship;(as we see many denominations of Christianity today). Also Hosea 13:4 reads “And I that am YHWH Elohim from the land of Egypt will yet make thee to dwell in tabernacles, as in the days of the solemn feast.” This should be considered within the context of (Yeshua’s Aprocrypha “unveiling” given to St. John/Qidus Yohannis) Revelation 3:14 “And to the angel of the church of the Laodiceans write; These things saith the Amen, the faithful and true witness, the beginning of the creation of HaElohim;” WORD OF CAUTION: This is not to encourage brothers and sisters to get tripped up in the confusion of modern European Egyptology where the majority of popular Kemetian Schools of Thought are derived from, based on the perversion of the Albert Pike/Aliester Crowley (Jahnes/Jambres [see Exodus 7:10/2 Timothy 3:8]) delusion, but to diligently contemplate and discern the implications of what is revealed in The Bible. From the author’s studies, the Egyptian religion became corrupted to the point where YHWH called the Children of Israel out of that confusion through our Patriarch Moses who preserved the Truth of what was there, in Torah. The same is the current calling out of many ones from the corruption in doctrine found in many Christian Churches (though they still remain our Brothers and Sisters in the Father; Grace of Qedamawi Haile Sellassie through the Name and Love of the Son; Yeshua HaMashiakh)
Genesis 49:24 But his bow abode in strength, and the arms of his hands were made strong by the hands of the mighty God of Jacob; from thence is the shepherd, the stone(Eben אֶבֶן) of Israel:/John 8:18: I am one that bear witness of myself, and the Father that sent me beareth witness of me./John 10:30: I and the Father are one
In this parashah, we see that Pharaoh dreamed twice and in Genesis 41:28 Joseph announces “What God is about to do he sheweth to Pharaoh.” also in Genesis 41:32 “And for that the dream was “doubled” (Shanah [שָׁנָה To Repeat, Cycle, Alter, Disguise Oneself, same is used for “year”; keep in mind Ecclesiastes 1:9: The thing that hath been, it is that which shall be; and that which is done is that which shall be done: and there isno new thing under the sun] to Pharaoh twice; it is because the thing is established by God, and God will shortly bring it to pass.” (Blood Moons?) From these verses, we see the significance of Torah explicitly mentioning that Joseph remained in prison 2 years before the Butler brought him before Pharoah (see Hosea 6:1,2 and Zechariah 13:8,9). This gives us a good insight into the ancient Hebrew interpretation of the “2 Truths “/(2 Witnesses)/Objective,Subjective, etc. or doubling. In Scripture this doubling indicates that HaElohim has revealed His Will. Thus, from this understanding, we are better able to understand the significance of Yeshua HaMashiakh’s testimony of The Father and Qedamawi Haile Sellassie’s testimony of Yeshua HaMashiakh, making it absolutely certain. In the practical application (from a time/space perspective), it demonstrates that no matter how much we desire that a event successfully come to pass, it will not before YHWH sees it fit for it to happen.
Also in this parashah, we read that Pharoah (פַּרְעֹה) “The Great House” “awoke” or saw a light, (however dim it was), and came to consciousness. This could be discerned by studying the Hebrew Word translated as “awoke” Qetz (קֵץ) he was standing by the “river” Ya’owr (יאור notice the YAD “Hand of God” preceeding אוּר Owr: Flame, Light). It’s somewhat humorous that Pharoah went back to sleep and dreamed again. Aside from humor, this may actually be a lesson in discernment for us if we remember that Joseph also received his vision in 2 dreams, which were fulfilled in Genesis 42:6 (not merely to boast but to reprove his brothers and provide them what they required and ultimately reconcile the family). The objective lesson, in these verses, may be one of Discernment as to whether our Vision is in in accordance to The Will of Our Father, revealed in Yeshua through the Holy Spirit” as Genesis 41:38 recounts “And Pharaoh said to his servants, Can we find such a one as this is, a man in whom the Spirit of HaElohim is?” This is individually (subjectively) applicable, in our walk, by always conferring and head resting with The Bible and The Utterances of His Majesty before we assume that our service is in His Authority, as Deuteronomy 19:15 sets forth “…..at the mouth of two witnesses, or at the mouth of three witnesses, shall the matter be established.” Also we are admonished in Isaiah 8:20 that “To the law and to the testimony (even the testimony of Yeshua in Qedamawi Haile Sellassie): if they speak not according to this word, it is because there is no light in them.” So we need not doubt as we testify to the best of our ability, even in our daily walk, reflecting the Truth of the Gospel of His Majesty in Yeshua. Romans 8:16 reminds us “The Spirit itself beareth witness with our spirit, that we are the Children of HaElohim:”
In proceeding, we see that Pharoah was greatly troubled by The Vision HaElohim revealed to him. However, this vision was not able to be explained by the carnal mined so-called wise men and magicians of the Spiritual Egypt, whom Torah does not indicate to have given Glory to HaElohim. This is emphasized in Genesis 41:16 as Joseph proclaims “It is not in me (more correctly in Hebrew Bil’adey [בִּלְעֲדֵי] it is not me apart from HaElohim): HaElohim shall give Pharaoh an answer of Shalom. However, Joseph divinely guided with Spiritual Knowledge Wisdom and Understanding was able to rightly interpret and even assist Pharoah and the Egyptians. Keep in mind Proverbs 11:26 “He that withholdeth corn, the people shall curse him: but blessing shall be upon the head of him that selleth it.”
There are various levels of interpretation, involving Hebrew Science and Metaphysics, concerning the interpretation of Pharoah’s dream”. Nonetheless, it is evident that we are existing in a time of Spiritual Famine or as it is written in Torah RA’AB (רָעָב) which in Hebrew Nuance relates to a ignorance or indifference to YHWH’s instruction given to us in The Bible. Also, there is a “Divine pun” in seeing the combination of Ra “evil” and Ab “Father”, would this indicate The Pope? Anyway, as it is evident the present famine we face is a Spiritual Famine in Spiritual Egypt. Thus it would be wise to glean the fifth, by studying The Word to have in time of spiritual famine and even share with the Egyptians who are willing and able to receive. (See Isaiah 42:6/49,6/60,3)
Torah tells us that Joseph was 30 years old when he was exalted to a position of office. According to Gerald Massey this age, in the culture of the Egyptians, is also when a male became mature. It is interesting to note Genesis 41:14 mentions explicitly that Joseph shaved (see Gerald Massey Ancient Egypt Light of The World; regarding Horus the Child, Horus the Gracious Child and the stages of maturity). It should also be noted that in Numbers Chapter 4 Verses 3, 23, 30, 35, 39, the order of age begins at 30 for the service of the Tabernacle of The Congregation.
In conclusion, the entire account of Joseph’s testing gives a very important perspective from the Divine Mind, being that Many times, in our spiritual growth approaching the mark of 17 and 30, we will encounter circumstances and situations that are very trying. Also, they are all a phases of preparation (2 years) to learn His Word so that we will be properly equipped to carry out whatever task is set before us, as Joseph in biding his time was able to not only able to realize His Dream but also able to remedy the plight of the Egyptians. The take away lesson is that by enduring these experiences and learning from them with thanksgiving to YHWH rather than falling into despair, or remaining immature (because our own expectations are not met) we will eventually be able to manifest the Vision given to us by HIM!
