Flashblack? Eminem’s 2009 Controversial Mixtape Artwork – “Black in America”
What’s the first thing that comes to mind when you see this? I’m not a fan of Eminem but his 2009’s controversial album artwork seems more relevant today than ever before. When the mix tape dropped, many though the artwork was racist move on the artist. But is it? In light of countless centuries of The United State’s blatant genocide on people of color, it seems Eminem’s album 6 years ago took a bolder stand than most mainstream rappers. It took someone of European decent to trouble the visual waters in the Hip Hop industry. Are there still anymore REAL revolutionaries in Hip Hop, in America? Freedom of speech is what they are calling it, freedom to express oneself. So, even though I am not a fan of Eminem, his boldness must be applauded to shine light on the deplorable and subhuman conditions Black America faces on a daily basis, in what is now known as AmeriKKKa.
