Building Dome Homes With Aircrete in The Mayan Jungle, Mexico Part 1
Building Dome Homes With Aircrete in The Mayan Jungle, Mexico Part 1. Follow RasTafari TV Network on a journey of sustainability as we travel to the Mayan Riviera to learn how to build dome homes with aircrete in the heart of the jungle. In our My Eco Hive series, we will guide you on the journey of regenerative living and the importance of self-reliance. My Eco Hive is regenerative living at its best, offering a unique opportunity to join our intentional community. Together, we will not only survive but thrive in these uncertain times.
During our dome-building workshop, we will learn methods of building a dome home that is fire and rot-resistant, insulative, sustainable, strong, and durable against the forces of earthquakes, hurricanes, tornadoes, etc. We worked in a friendly and respectful team setting to co-create under the guidance of our instructors. We worked with power tools, hand tools, and construction materials and equipment to build archways forms and a round window form. We learned to mix Aircrete with Domegaia’s unique tools. Aircrete is an amazing, material that you can make yourself at home – almost as easy as making pancake batter!
We stacked bricks with our mortar recipe to construct a dome using a compass arm to build a round, sit-in window, and a custom wood door and applied reinforcement fabric mesh with stucco. Our interactive, hands-on “classroom” in nature includes exercises and discussions.
Topics: Foundation pouring, compass arm assembly, skylight ideas, window installation, door, and door jam construction & installation
We will offer an inspirational and informative slideshow presentation and dedicated Q&A time!
Instruction includes the fundamentals of pouring, stacking, and structural reinforcement of the dome. This series is a precursor to a phenomenal experience and regenerative movement you don’t want to miss! Stay tuned for part 2.
