Many tell lies about Our Majesty, Emperor Haile Selassie I because of ignorance or jealousy. However, one man, Ato Taffara Deguefe tells the truth about the mild mannered, generous Emperor who cancelled out the debt of the poor, gave all his personal money for aid, even in famine and more. Ato Deguefe shares his testimony of how Our Emperor help him with his own foreclosure. His Majesty also provided assistance to soldiers and many families.

After many years of my asking, Ato Deguefe ( Minister of Aviation and later head of Ethiopian National Bank under Haile Selassie- spent 6 years in Mengistu’s prisons) finally and unexpectedly permitted me to take this brief video of him, at a time when he was quite ill. I used my I-phone and asked the questions which came to my mind. Given that he was the head of the National Bank, it seemed appropriate for him to address the issues surrounding His Majesty’s alleged money. The recording stopped by itself after about nine minutes. Mr. Deguefe felt it was enough, the dignified and humble man that he is. Many thanks to a great friend, a great man and a historic figure for telling the truth about Haile Selassie, a man whom he loved dearly and who raised him form a child from the village.
