REGGAE POTENTIAL FOR ANCIENTS MEDICAL FUNDING
Rastafari musical vibration is rocking the globe with the cutting edge reggae revolution to keep music lovers moving on their feet even today. The natural mystic of the legend Robert Nesta Marley has given birth to a new generation of converts, now flashing dreadlocks and chanting Rastafar on musical stages around the world, all of whom should now contribute to the welfare of Matriarchs and Patriarchs of the movement one way or the other. The question that is haunting the minds today is ‘How to get the funding?” Some have said “Let’s approach philanthropic agencies who have money to give away”, but some of these agencies have no sympathy for Rastafari. Others have suggested using the reggae industry as a source of funding because reggae music has created the major industry that Rastafari people have invested their creative culture in.
Over the many years of Nyah Binghi and Bobo Shanti priestly mansions, there was a hot Fiyah coming from the High Priests on the reggae muzik, especially the dance hall genre .No one can deny that within the dance halls and clubs where reggae culture explodes with youth full energies, the gods of slackness and vulgarity rule. However roots rock reggae is a liberation force for many on the front line. For many, it is the small axe to cut down the big tree of neo-colonialism, if managed properly.
The challenge that we now face is the reformation and redirection of Rastafari Reggae culture. The Rastafari Code of Conduct clearly states that : “Rastafari Reggae Musicians, Singers, Promoters, MC’s, DJs should always: consider making financial contribution to the social and economic development of the Rastafari Nation .” It is the sacred duty of all well thinking Rastafari to commit ini selves whole heartedly to the Rastafari Royal Creed; this must be a solemn binding oath of allegiance to ensure that: “The hungry be fed, the sick nourished, the age protected, the naked clothed, the infants cared for.” We can’t say we didn’t know.
If the intention is to build a strong Rastafari movement, the creed is not for lip service. I will now make the appeal to establish the well needed “RASTAFARI ANCIENT MEDICAL FUND“ to be supported first and foremost from a pool of funds form Rastafari Reggae musicians. Please don’t tell me that the Twelve Tribe members can manage on their own, the Bobo Shanti can take care of their own and it is only the Ancient Order of the Nyah Binghi who is having this present problem. Are we not the children of Q’damawi Haile Selassie and Empress Menen? Did we all not come from the same source?
Without apology, I now make this appeal to the Bob Marley Foundation, to Ancient Bunny Livingston Wailer and to Mutabaruka to play a leading role in this matter of mobilizing the reggae music machinery. We need the 12 tribes of Israel , along with the foundation members of Reggae such as Ras Michael, Ken Booth, Marcia Griffiths, Lee Scratch Perry, reggae steppers Jr Gong Marley, Steven Marley, Sizzla Kalonji, Capelton, I-Octane, Fanton Mojah, Mikey General, Luciano, Kulcha Knox, I-Wayne, Tony Rebel, Queen Ifrica and any others who are available to come together and produce one big stage show to start a fund for the Ancients medical needs.
A current list of Ancients who need to benefit is already available. Everything will be transparent. It was Bob Marley who said ‘Not one of my seed shall sit on the sidewalk and beg your bread.” So let the ancients be fed, yu hear!
