June 1911 – Empress Menen Asfaw journeyed from Dessie to Addis Ababa, culminating in her marriage to Dejazmach Tafari Makonnen (later Emperor Haile Selassie I) in July 31, 1911 of that year.
June 5 (Genbot 29) – Feast of Abba Aftse and Abba Guba
Abba Aftse and Abba Guba, two of the Nine Saints who played a pivotal role in establishing monasticism in Ethiopia during the 5th and 6th centuries, are commemorated on this day. Abba Aftse was known as a healer and founded a monastery in Yeha, while Abba Guba established a monastery in Madara.

June 8, 1954 – During a visit to Chicago, Emperor Haile Selassie made an unscheduled stop at South Park Baptist Church, engaging with the local African American community.
June 12 (Sene 5) – Feast of Archangel Mikael/Michael
Archangel Mikael/Michael, revered as the leader of the heavenly hosts and protector of the faithful, is celebrated monthly on the 12th day of each Ethiopian month. The June celebration is one of the major feasts dedicated to him, marked by special prayers, hymns, and the preparation of traditional foods shared among the community.
June 16, 1898 – Leonard Percival Howell was born in May Crawle River, Clarendon Parish, Jamaica. He would later become a pioneering figure in the Rastafari movement, advocating for the divinity of Emperor Haile Selassie I and establishing the first Rastafarian commune, Pinnacle. Pinnacle became Jamaica’s first multi-million dollar free slave community.
