This is historic footage of His Imperial Majesty Emperor Haile Selassie I attending a morning church service at which the Battle of Adowa (or Adwa) was commemorated. This military engagement between the army of King Menelik II and an invading force from Italy was defeated in Tigray Province on March 1st 1896.

We honor truth. We correct errors. I humbly issue this official correction concerning a previously published date within our Monthly Timeline Series.
RasTafari TV recently published that Emperor Menelik II was born on August 5, 1844. The correct date is August 17, 1844—the same day as the Hon. Marcus Garvey. Give thanks for the correction and your continued trust.

As someone deeply committed to accuracy, this oversight weighs on I. After 30+ years of service to our community and 11 years of building RTV with my family, I’ve carried this torch mostly alone. Though hundreds have come to assist over the years, many have used their time with us as an opportunity for sabotage or simply not show up at their post. I has been exhausting—but not defeated. The inbox is always full, Dm’s overflowing, the phone won’t stop, and I can’t keep doing this without you. It is a reminder of how stretched and overworked I’ve become after decades of doing the heavy lifting for this movement.
